It's rather amazing that such a topic as this should deteriorate to "gun control." Considering that "9/11" was achieved with airplanes, logically perhaps "private pilots' classes control" or maybe "airplane control" should be included. Well when you started this thread you should have instructed us how you wanted us to respond to it.

Here we have some "terrorist" individuals (Muslim, Islamic or otherwise), picked a soft target and killed. I have indicated before here on this board that this is now the reoccurring of activities of this type within the USA. Discussions about gun control in my opinion are a waste of time, within the USA, the tighter the control the more some individuals will acguire more guns and ammunition. I live in an area where it is already happening, stock piles of guns and ammunition, all I want in any form. Law enforcement officials? They are involved in the acquisition of the same.
Until we completely understand that parts of Islam are at war with us and other countries; until we collectively and effectively engage this war to win, I see no good outcome of continuing to treat this any less than what it truly is, a war.

The problem is one of narrow-minded perception. If you talk to an average Muslim on the street, they will tell you that radical Islamic terrorists don't represent Islam any more than the Branch Davidians represent Christians. And they'd be right.

That's a very liberal and dangerous view. It's dangerous because it's not completely false. After all who would believe a complete lie.

After 9/11 we changed the way airplanes are protected. We strengthened the door to the cockpit, we have air marshals on many flights, we require screening of passengers and their luggage. But you all know that. After terrorists turned to buying guns and killing us, we did nothing. Guns are sacred to many people in our country. They are an object of worship. It is considered blasphemy and lunacy to suggest that people be restricted to owning flintlocks. A significant percentage of people have a death wish (for the rest of us). It is not only Muslims that have a death wish for most Americans, there are a significant percentage of our fellow Americans who do too.
Rush Limbaugh darkly hinted at conservatives needing to commit violence against liberals
"RUSH: I have to say, though, folks, terrorism is the greatest threat, because we can still defeat liberals without violence. So terrorism still, of course, represents a greater threat than the Democrat Party. We can handle them without violence. So far."
Breitbart Fantasized About Killing Liberals: “We outnumber them and we have the guns”
Glenn Beck Received Death Threats From Conservatives for deciding that migrant children should be treated with compassion and love. Beck planned on bringing a huge truck full of teddy bears, soccer balls, and hot meals to over 3,000 children in McAllen, Texas who’d recently come across the border.

Hardly. Just we just understand that the path you are trying to follow, leads to bigotry, hate, and discrimination.
Statistically in the US youa re far more likely to be killed by right wing christians than muslim. The problem, especially in the right wing news, is they don't call it what it is, terrorist. Example, is the murders of gays, transgenders, pro rights of american women to choose for themselves, etc. These people are just as bad as the muslim extremists.
Most extremist muslims kill other muslims, not christians. Not Americans. We just ignore the people who die in other natioins because for some reason, american christians do not consider anyone else equal. But in "gods" eys, they are just as important as you aor I.

Methinks perhaps you have forgotten there's a difference between ideology and religion. Most Americans were never keen on incorporating Communist ideology or Aryan supremacy notions before that in "the American way of life" and I, for one, see less reason to start incorporating Islamic ideology. If someone wants to bow down five times a day toward Mecca or drape themselves from head to foot, that's fine with me as long as there's no suggestion (never mind law or more) that i do likewise. And, that doesn't mean I think that women should run around with their behinds exposed or that I hold that there's no chance of existence beyond three dimensions.

I agree with your basic comment. And I will add that we did have Branch Davidians, we do have the Westboro Baptist Church, radical elements within the broader Christian community. They are within our midst and they do not represent for me, True Christianity. I suspect that not all religions, Agnostics and Atheists are completely radical, just a small minority of each perhaps. I do not want to live next door to any of these nor do I want to participate as one. So, of the ten thousand Syrians our President wants to let in, how many of them are radical? How many of them will "acclimate in our society? I do not have an answer and I believe no one else has one either.

If we do not admit them, how many of them will die? We argued against admitting Jewish refugees from Germany at the time that Germany was rounding up Jews. We used the argument that some might me spies.

We used the argument that some might me spies. Don't forget, there have been advances in weapons designs. How many will die? Make that: How many innocent people would die? And, I don't know, but perhaps a solution would be to designate a patch of ground (a la Israel) and take them there.

How about loving them and accepting them as your brothers and providing sanctuary so they may also have the opportunity to escape violence, hate, and inability to grow in service.
