We canceled our restaurant reservation for tonight. An inch or two of snow coming down, totals unpredictable, and high winds. Not worth the worry of driving to the metro parking, getting on the train to downtown, and then walking several blocks in 30-40 mile an hour winds. Bambi (we were going to a place that features venison) gets a reprieve, but we'll try again next weekend. It seems like this happens almost every other year, on Valentine's Day. We're having gusts up to 60. Snow may be 3-5, but it isn't there yet, and tends to be lighter when the storm blows in from the North side.

Well, just cozy up to the fire ( if you have a fireplace) hold hands and smootch a little like high school kids, pull out something from the frig or freezer and be happy that you have your best friend with you and you don't have to leave the house. "BAMBI" a place that serves venison ? I like venison if cooked right, but BAMBI? Humm, don't know if I could deal with the internal visuals in my head while dining there Happy Valentine's Day, be safe.

Of course, the power would go out...goes with the territory.
Heavy winds here, blowing snow all over everywhere. Even blew snow into the semi-enclosed foyer near the front door, and it's slippery on the tile surface outside the door.
Our son is supposed to come over for lunch, and maybe we'll go out for Dim Sum at a local Chinese place.
I may put off taking my car to AAA to check for the leaks after they pout the dye in the oil last week...that kind of thing can wait a few more days until the weather is a little better. Might also put off going up to Baltimore for Sara's consultation with the heart specialist. Whole week is supposed to be harsh.

Uh huh but no power no heat. On the bright side Mardi Gras starts in 2 days and Spring in 38. It's tough but we're tougher (smile).

Last night was the coldest night of the year so far....and the power goes out. WOW ! Do you have a generator or fireplace ? How did you keep from freezing ? It hurts my bones to think about it.My years in RI seem to be a distant unpleasant dream now. I could have literally kissed the ground once across the Mason Dixon line heading back South . Some people are just not meant to be cold weather people, I'm a prime example. My granddaughter has never seen snow, and it holds a mystique for her. But I also know she is a creature comfort kind of person, I'd give her about 15 minutes outside in the snow ! She and some of her college friends were planning a ski trip but plans fell through when several had to cancel due to class scheduling. There's always next year, God willing. I think once would do her in She's a water baby and always has been. Water skiing, tubing, snorkeling etc...BIG DIFFERENCE

It's a task to get that thing hooked up, sooo at 1:30am I thought I would wait it out. When I woke up the power was back on and the furnace was running.

My son went back home and found out that he has no heat, either, so I suppose he'll stay with us for a while. He lives in an apartment, so that will have to fixed promptly, I suppose, since his outage mean several other families are also without heat.

We got hit yesterday with a winter storm, it's Zero this morning and it's suppose to be well below zero for the next several days fellowed by another winter storm next weekend. I keep looking for signs of Global Warming....none here.

It was a balmy 15 when I got up this morning at 5:45 AM. First thing, I had to chase the deer away from the bird feeder. We only had about four inches of snow, instead of the 5-12 they had predicted, and it's powdery, dry stuff, so shoveling the driveway should be relatively easy. And they plowed our road, a miracle of minor sorts!
My son got his heat back, too, so if he's prudent enough to not go to work, he has a free holiday, since the government is off. Although he works for a private company, a lot of businesses around here take off when the feds take off.

It's snowing here now on top of the snow we already have. I knew we were getting off too easy this winter. Tomorrow the high is supose to be 10 and the low -15. Where is Global Warming when you need it?
On the local news last night it showed a huge snowball fight down by the river. It was funny because it's been so cold and dry no one could make a snowball, when they went to throw it it was nothing but powder.

Has everyone gone into hibernation?

A local rabbit has began coming out at twilight to feed near the bird feeders, so it's not hibernating, but it doesn't post on this board.
