It's suppose to -22 degrees wind chill tonight but I'll take this any day before the snow. Last year we had 22 snows, I'm tired of snow.

But, snow covers up all the dirt for a while and even washes some of it away.

Hi C.P., it's suppose to get warmer and they're calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain. You might get some up your way to.

Cold here, too, and I'm having to chase deer out of the yard and away from the bird feeders. Over and over again. They can clean out a bird feeder in minutes. I've had groups of up to five, several times, all in one day. We have lots of deer here in the DC suburbs. Too many, IMO. When it gets really dark I'll give up. I don't think they ever sleep. Rats with hooves, but a lot of people love them.

We have deer here to but the main nuisance is coyotes. We have to watch our dogs, especially small dogs.

We see an occasional red fox here, but no coyotes. If coyotes eat fawns, they would be welcome, IMO, but we'd have to watch out for our children.

Given enough time they probably will be there. 25 years ago there were no coyotes here. I don't know how dangerous they are to humans. Twice I had close encounters with them and nothing happened.

I don't think coyotes would bother adults, although joggers might arouse their interest.
I hit a deer with my car two or three years ago. Did a lot of damage to the car, but I wasn't hurt.
Getting gas is not fun when it gets really cold. The cold pump handles are hard on the hands.
If the weather doesn't get bad enough to close off roads and airports, we're flying to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. on January 15, for a couple of weeks. San Francisco is in the low 60s, Hawaii in the low 80s.

I've never seen a coyote around here, in fact the only place I've ever seen one live was in a zoo.
We too, have an abundance of deer. They don't present a problem except trampling the grass. Apparently I have no vegetation that interest them.
My husband had a very close call with a deer that darted across the road late one night. The deer came out of nowhere and luckily, when he swerved the car, there was no one in the other lane. It was a big buck and could have resulted in a disaster.
Many forms of wildlife have been displaced due to suburban sprawl. We are overrun by armadillos, anyone want some?

I have never seen a armadillos except on T.V.. They really are stupid critters. One was trying to get into my garage one day. I had a broom in one hand and a garbage can lid in the other. I don't think they see well and they definitely are not afraid of humans. I tried sweeping him out, I tried scooping him up in the can lid and still he kept trying to find a way around me. My husband was of no help at all, he just took a seat and sat there laughing. Finally the armadillo got himself turned around and slowly meandered back toward the woods

I saw on TV once where one jumped into the mouth of an alligator, which immediately chomped on him. The alligator's teeth bounced off the armadillo, and it ran off, unscathed. Sometimes, if you're well armored, you can escape alive, even if very stupid.
I have heard that the deer are far more plentiful now than they ever were, back in pre-Columbian days. In those days, they had predators, wolves and cougars, which thought they were very tasty. Their only predator now is the automobile.
