I am amazed by the number of people who have no working knowledge of a Grand Jury, how it works, the process etc. I've even heard some so called 'news commentators ' make outrageous statements about the Grand Jury. A Grand Jury is not designed to play the same role as a regular jury. Granted different states have different rules and guidelines, and they are not all the same. Blows my mind

What is that in reference to? I know that grand juries have been in the news and center in some of the protests lately.
By the way, I spent the last couple weeks in your neck of the woods. Went to see the football game in Jacksonville, Texans vs. the Jags... good game.
But the reason I was out there was to look at some property and sell a parcel that was developed into a nice commercial and retail center.

Really ? Generally I don't even tell people I'm from Jacksonville when it comes to the Jags! I keep hoping... next year, next year.
The thing about some comments on the Grand Jury system seems to reflect that some people think they operate along the same lines as a regular jury. One question on one of the 'Talk news shows' was when someone asked what evidence came from the" Cross examination " as if it was a full blown trial. and other comments about officer Wilson being on trial.. just stuff like that.

I am saddened at some of the latest no-bill decisions that have come out of a couple of grand juries. I served on one for a year, had several no-bills, one error that I have heard is that the Grand Jury gets all the evidence and that is just not true. The real evidence is the testimony by the witnesses called. It is who and what you believe to grant a no-bill or a true bill. The jurors who really get the evidence are the ones sitting in a courtroom trial. If I remember we only got a summary of evidence but did not see any real evidence.

I have served on a regular jury several times, but not a Grand Jury, although my husband has.
Some Grand Juries deliberate for only a few hours, some take months to arrive at a decision.
I didn't expect it to take much time in the Tony Stewart case. The video helped tremendously. I can't even believe they convened a Grand Jury for that one.

Speaking of your husband, you mentioned a while back that he was on a carrier. Was he in the Pacific? If so which carrier and if his sailed in the PMR and had pilots do carrier quals. I was thinking about that the other day when I was chatting with an old shipmate. Because of the aircraft we worked on some of us got qualified to ride back seat on the F-4 Phantom and when a pilot in the squadron on base had to do carrier quals we'd sometimes ride back seat. There were a couple carriers that we used. This would have been between 68-70. Depending on his rank and grade I might have met him on one of the flights.

LOL, I seriously doubt you ever met him. He served his entire career in Atlantic CAGs We were stationed in Norfolk, Key West, Quonset Pt RI and finally Cecil Field and NAS Jax
Mainly VS squadrons, VS 27-VS-28 VS-30 with a stint in an HS squadron HS 11 where he was an ASW operator and a rescue swimmer in the Seahawk
He was TAD in San Diego for a couple of short periods as a tech adviser He served on the Intrepid, the Saratoga, THE USS Independence, all as an ASW operator in VS squadrons., first in the old S2-F ans later the S3-A Viking. He never flew in Phantoms 26 1/2 yesrs add up to a lot of carrier landings, thank God with no accidents. However one other plane which he was supposed to be on went overboard ( can't remember which ship ) as a result of a cold cat shot. No casualties, but some serious injuries.
