I recently had my DNA tested to find out what my ancestry is. I am American, but was curious as to where my ancestors had come from. I got a lot of surprises. I knew some of our ancestry but not to this extent. It appears I am mainly Bosnian, with roots in Russia and Finland. Some ancestors in Denmark, and the most surprising, Eskimo. Neat thing about being American, most of us have roots all over the world. That makes us 100% American!

The Eskimo might be through the Russian.

The Eskimo might be through the Russian. I had a DNA test a year or so back, it wasn't that specific. I'm 42% Northern European-41% Mediterranean-16% South west Asian. Apparently some of my distant kin got around.

I thought the word ' Eskimo' is considered offensive. It's a catch all term for any number of indigenous peoples in the area. Inuit is very common

Eskimo or Esquimaux is a French term. As a noun it means contempt or disapproval. As a adjective it means disparaging, derogatory,, abusive, insulting, slighting. Yes, I looked it up. I've never heard that before. I learn something new every day.

The Eskimo might be through the Russian. I thought that might be the link too.
