Kevin Ward Jr, age 20, was killed as he walked onto the track following a crash during Sat night's Sprint Cup race. He was struck by Tony Stewart's car while under the caution flag. No charges are pending against Stewart This was a senseless, irresponsible act on the part of Ward Race fans are saddened by this event and send prayers to the family of Ward as well as prayers and support for Tony Stewart. espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/11338127/tony-stewart-pulls-weekend-dirt-track-race

As sad as the death of Kevin Ward is, it amazes me that some of his family and others in the racing world would blame Stewart for this tragic event. I guess people in grief sometimes look for someone to blame other than the victim.
Ward narrowly escaped being hit by the # 45 car just ahead of Stewart, then Ward actually attempted to grab hold of Stewart's car, his clothes caught and was dragged underneath.
His life and racing career were cut short by a very bad decision.
i wonder if some people wold be so bitter and accusing had Ward been killed by someone other than Stewart ?

If #45 had hit him we'd never have heard about it, but Tony with his temperament and NASCAR's bad boy anything he does makes headlines for racing.

I'm no huge Stewart fan, but that being said, I think it's ridiculous that some people would actually accuse him of intentionally killing Ward. If you add up all the hot headed 'bad boys' of racing, Stewart is just one of the bunch. He is aggressive for sure, but aggression is what wins races. It's sad for both the Ward family, as well as Stewart himself. I can't imagine the personal hell he's going through right now.
