A ghost copping a feel ? Sorry, my bad, just joking.
It's late and my eyes are really fuzzy, but maybe tomorrow I will tell you the story that made my hair stand on end.... stay tuned
Uh huh, running across a ghost with a knee fetish, what are the odds?
I will in deed stay tuned with diet pepsi and popcorm in hand.
I'm sure your scary story will cause cold chills, that way I can save on my AC bill. Yes I am frugal.
Not so scary as eerie.
As I mentioned before, my husband was career Navy. He always saved his maximum leave for Christmas, which we always spent at my parent's house.
One night, we were there, my parents had gone to a wedding, our young daughter was staying the night with some cousins, and no one was home except me, my husband and my cousin. We were sitting at the kitchen table playing cards.
I hear this soft wavering voice say : "Kay, Baby, is that you '?.. I stopped in my tracks look around, feeling quite taken aback, but didn't say anything. I just shook it off
A few minutes later I hear the same voice repeating the same question, now I'm concerned.
I asked if any of the other two had heard the voice and they both said "No".. I thought the TV in the bedroom must have been left on, but no, it wasn't on.
We continue to play cards.. Nothing else for awhile until I hear the same voice ( vaguely familiar, but I couldn't quite recognize it ),, the same question word for word. Now I'm freaking.
My husband and my cousin are looking at me like I've finally gone over the cliff.
Fast forward seven years later. We are now stationed in Florida.
I receive a call from my Mom saying my Grandmother, whom I adored and was always very close to, had had a heart attack and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She was semi conscious, her prognosis wasn't good, and if I wanted to see her, I should hurry home.
I threw some clothes into a bag and got a flight out that night.
When I arrived at the hospital , she was still in a semi conscious state and on a respirator. My heart sank. She looked so pale and small.
Different family members had been keeping vigil in hopes that she would rally and we didn't want her alone if she did.
The following night, I volunteered to stay the night with her.
There was a comfortable recliner that could be made horizontal and was quite comfortable with blankets and pillows. I drifted off to sleep.
Sometime around 4 AM, I was awakened by a very familiar voice, weak, but clear.
" Kay, baby, is that you '? Geezalou.. I jumped out of that recliner, went to her bed and she was awake and very lucid, although weak.
Instant recognition of the same voice, the same question I had heard those many years before verbatim. I had chills and was shaking all over.
We hugged and she struggled to carry on a conversation. I called the nurse and she did all the tweeking of the machines, vitals etc and left to get the doctor. The nurse warned me not to tire her.
My Grandmother asked me to raise her bed to a sitting position, I did and we hugged some more and talked.
She said she was not in pain. She had such a beautiful smile. My Grandmother was awake !
I sat on the edge of the bed, I brushed her hair, rubbed lotion on her arms and face and got her to drink some juice. She squeezed my hand, quite hard for an 82 year old woman who had just rallied from death's door. She asked about the rest of the family and I told her they were on their way to see her.
She passed away two weeks later.
I feel that God allowed us a limited time to tell her how much she was loved and to give us closure.
It's been almost 30 years ago and I can still hear that voice calling to me as we were playing cards that night in my Mom's kitchen
