I hate it when people will ask me for advise, I take the time to consider their problem then offer them advise, then they do the opposite. What is with that?

Maybe they took your advise under consideration and then made a decision based on all the info that they had at the time, maybe you actually helped.

I found that people are not looking for advice, rather they are looking for someone to listen. Let them work the problem out by talking it out.

I have never asked others for advice. Now asking legal advice from an atty is a different matter, however personal advice is a dime a dozen. No one knows what is best for another person. One can give input, stats, quote something similar, but still, I'd neve ask for nor would I GIVE PERSONAL ADVICE.

Asking for professional help from someone who is licensed in their area of expertise is a far cry from asking a lay person for advice.. attys can be sanctioned if they do not provide advice according to the law and the bar ethics committee. That's the difference.

Depends on who you get your advice from. I have had attorneys lie to me. I would say that personal advice is a dime a dozen if you take it from anyone, it depends on the person you are asking. It is wise to know what kind of person , the person is, who you are requesting advice from. Consider the source. I don't give personal advice concerning personal relationships, as I have no idea what they need to do, regardless of what they tell me. I have had people ask me about different things I know about, then they turn around and do the opposite. One in particular concerned a computer, I knew it was junk, they asked me, I told them it was junk, then they come back by later and told me they had bought it and were lamenting their decision. What can you say? Warned you?
