Etc. is an all inclusive term. It's an abbreviation for two Latin words: et and cetera.
It is pronounced "et" and "cetera" NOT "ek" and "cetera."
"Et" in Latin means "and" in English. "Cetera" in Latin means "other like things" (items of the same class or type) in English.
It's normal use is to put it at the end of several things mentioned to avoid making a lengthy list, as in:
Basic (as opposed to primary) colors are green, purple, etc., as well as red, blue and yellow.
