Either Toby Keith was really tall or Willie is really short. I met Willie about 30 years ago but he was sitting in a golf cart at the time so I didn't get a sense for how big/small he was was. But every project he's ever done with other artists seems to end up being huge successes. Poncho and Lefty with Merle Haggard comes to mind. Sad about Toby Keith. He was much too young.

Toby was 6 foot 4 inches tall. Sometimes people shrink as they get older. Disks in the back get compressed and arches in the feet aren't as tall. Willie is 5 foot 5 and 7/8 inches tall. He said [on his just-a-shade-under 5-foot-6 height] "I'm taller than Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. Of course, they don't wear cowboy boots. I'm also taller than Ross Perot as long as I don't cut my hair."
Willie has recorded a lot of hits. There are many I like. "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain" is one.

I used to be around 6'3" but I measured about 6' 1.75" last time I was measured, but height and weight vary from one doctor's office to another. When asked, I usually say I'm 6'2". I concern myself more with my weight now. Over the last 2 years I have taken better care of myself and I now weight less than I did 40 years ago and I feel great (not perfect) for a guy in his 70s.

When I was in High School, I measured 5' 11". I tried to stand as tall as possible, in hopes of being 6'. I managed to be measured at 5' 11 1/2" once. My mother died after I finished the Junior year and I took risks that summer in response. I ended up flipping her car 3 1/2 times into a farmer's field. I lost a couple of weeks in a coma in the hospital. Like Willie I had no interest in college though I attended for a couple of years. I worked many different jobs, mostly heavy duty labor. Recently a chiropractor said I had a compression fracture of a vertebra in my middle back. I measure 5' 8" now. I too am in my 70's and I have a relatively comfortable life that is rewarding. Sometimes I get a cramp in my middle back that is very painful. I find that drinking a hot cup of water with magnesium citrate powder makes the cramp go away. It's a powder that used to be called CALMAG but is called CALM now. It used to have calcium carbonate and magnesium citrate in it. Of course calcium citrate is more usable by our bodies. Now it only features magnesium and citric acid that make magnesium citrate when dissolved in boiling water.
Apparently food has a lot less magnesium in it now. Magnesium is valuable for making explosives.
