When the countries that are typically neutral when other countries go to war, condemn an aggressor nation, then it really says something about the criminal nature of the aggressor.
"Finland To Debate NATO Petition In Parliament"
This is significant, because Finland, like the Ukraine, shares a border with Russia. Finland too, has typically been neutral about conflicts between other countries, like Switzerland. Everyone in Russia who works with Putin, and his own political Party, will not be blind to this world-wide condemnation of his abuse of the Ukraine.
Putin is a dead man walking.
Putin should quit his war, and resign. It is the only way for Russia to regain some semblance of respect. Even so, this will tarnish Russia for decades. You don't gain countries to your side by invading them and killing their people. That's what Hitler tried to do.

Putin has threatened to use nuclear weapons and people are wondering if he's bluffing. Nuclear war is so serious it has to be assumed he is not bluffing. Either way I think you're right, Putin is a dead man. If he is not crazy he far too reckless.

GOP Leaders Reject Trump's Praise Of Putin: 'He’s A Thug'
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Putin was a 'ruthless thug' who killed innocent people 'History is watching' Trump and Putin, says former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Trump claimed the media misrepresented his remarks toward Putin
Several Republican lawmakers have publicly admonished or rejected Donald Trump’s recent praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin as “smart,” with one GOP figure calling the Kremlin leader a “thug.”
During a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday night, Trump praised Putin following his invasion of Ukraine, which he blamed on President Joe Biden and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
"Yesterday, I was asked by reporters if I thought President Putin was smart. I said, 'of course he's smart,'" Trump said, adding: "The problem is not that Putin is smart, which of course he is smart, but the real problem is that our leaders are dumb.”

At this point no matter what Putin does he's a dead man. More likely than not some of his own people will kill him. If he does use nukes, he can still kill a lot of people.

I used to say that Tramp was the most dangerous person in the world (when he was President). Maybe I made Putin jealous. Now, Putin is the most dangerous man in the world. (that doesn't mean we need to be nice to him). When an evil person attacks good people, it is very good karma to defend them, even if the defender is killed in the process. The Buddha taught this about one of his previous lifetimes. He had been King Utoku when the good Priest Kutoku was attacked by evil men. Because King Utoku killed the attackers in defense of the good Priest Kutoku even though he suffered a thousand cuts from their swords and later died, he earned the indestructible body of the Buddha.
How much punishment a person receives from killing another being, depends on who they kill. To kill one's own parents is considered far more serious a crime in Buddhism, than killing a stranger. To kill an evil person in defense of good people that are being attacked by the evil person, is considered to actually produce benefit for the defender.
This means that Buddhism advocates for non-violence but when confronted with a violent evil person, the defense of the good people that are being attacked, is actually promoting non-violence. (saving good lives while eliminating the evil threat)
Nichiren teaches "However, the circumstances of killing vary, and the offense of the person killed may be heavy or light. If one kills the murderer of his parents, sovereign or teacher, then although he commits the same offense of killing, his grave sin will in effect become a lighter one. This, too, is something our contemporary scholars know. But even bodhisattvas with their great compassion, if they make offerings to the enemies of the Lotus Sutra, are certain to fall into the hell of incessant suffering. On the other hand, even those who commit the five cardinal sins, if they hate those enemies, will definitely be reborn in the human or heavenly realms. King Sen'yo and King Utoku, who had respectively destroyed five hundred and innumerable enemies of the Lotus Sutra, became the Shakyamuni Buddha of this world. Shakyamuni's disciples, such as Mahakashyapa, Ananda, Shariputra, Maudgalyayana and other countless followers, were those who, at that time had been in the vanguard of the battle and had scattered the enemy, killing them, injuring them, or rejoicing in the fight. The monk Kakutoku became Kasho Buddha. He was a most compassionate votary of the Lotus Sutra who at that time urged King Utoku to attack the enemies of the sutra as he would one who has been betraying his father and mother since a previous lifetime."

and again "The same holds true with your attainment of Buddhahood. No matter what grave offenses you might have committed, because you have not gone against the Lotus Sutra but showed your devotion by accompanying me, you will without a doubt become a Buddha. Yours is like the case of King Utoku, who gave his own life to save the monk Kakutoku and became Shakyamuni Buddha. "
