No doubt the Tramp zealots (you know who you are) will blame Biden for what Tramp signed into law. But that's okay because they couldn't blame Biden unless HE is the president now and numb-nut isn't. Imagine the outrage if Obama had signed such a law turning criminals loose to wreak havoc. news.yahoo.com/thousands-federal-inmates-released-under-141105255.html

The halfway houses provide opportunity to further assess whether an inmate is re-offending or is actually making a successful adjustment to working in society. There are requirements that have to be met and they don't allow a lot of wiggle room for misbehavior. A friend of mine worked for years as a guard at one. Another friend was the person in charge of the program here. Doing this at a time when covid is spiking is probably not wise though. Prison provides opportunity to test and separate and control virus spread. It would be a safer environment for inmates than a halfway house and certainly less risky for the citizens affect by the inmates in a halfway house.

There are pros and cons (no pun intended) to either situation. My point is that if some Democrat had signed something into law letting thousands of inmates out of prison early, there would be no end to the outcry from nutcases on the far right. It happened here in Kentucky when the Democrat governor released some prisoners early at the beginning of the pandemic and there has been no end to the criticism. I wasn't crazy about the idea when he did it either but I won't use a single issue against him when he's up for reelection. He's done a great job getting us through these times despite constant opposition from the other side.
