My gal said she heard that the incentives will bring the price down on the Ford Lightning to $23,500. I looked for details but haven't found any yet.
I did find this at the detroitnews.com site: "In addition to at least $600 million for electrifying the federal fleet, it calls for $71 million in tax credits for medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles; $394 million for EV charging station credits; $2 billion for electric school buses and $795 million to "spark widespread adoption" of EVs. "
Now if it includes point of sale rebates that happen when you buy the vehicle, it might make it more tempting for me.
The "$795 million to "spark widespread adoption" of EVs." might be point of sale rebates.

"President Biden Considering Point-Of-Sale EV Rebates"
"Biden plan calls for $100B in EV rebates and that's huge"

"President Biden Considering Point-Of-Sale EV Rebates" "Biden plan calls for $100B in EV rebates and that's huge" There's a big difference between "considering" and "calling for" something and putting it into practice. In the current political climate passage of even simple legislation has become nearly impossible.

Yes, the American people lose as a result. The world climate loses as a result. It will cause many of our leaders to fall into hell when they die.

Yes, the American people lose as a result. The world climate loses as a result. It will cause many of our leaders to fall into hell when they die. There is plenty of blame for both sides of the political spectrum. The politicians have to deal with the extremist factions of their parties and it makes it nearly impossible to function or pass meaningful legislation. I think those Republicans discussing breaking away to start a more centrist and moderate third party might be on the right track. I think they would also attract a number of current democrats dissatisfied with their leadership.

I am sure there are a few more than a handful of Democrats who would abandon their party. The percentage is getting smaller as time goes by. McConnell spoke to this when he talked about the importance of getting as many as possible Supreme Court Justices nominated by a Republican President. His prediction of the future was a growing influence of young Democrats and a decline in the numbers of old Republicans. So he predicted a time when the Republicans couldn't control the Senate or the House or the Presidency.
I predicted that Trump would lose when I left Heeey's board last Spring. I returned after Trump lost. I predict now (just like McConnell) that the Republicans will never again control the Presidency, the Senate, or the House. Conservatives will cherish the Supremes.

I respectfully disagree. I predicted Tramp would lose as well, but it had more to do with Tramp than with the Republican party. The the fact Tramp lost where other Republicans on the ballots won tells me many Americans voted for "persons" and not parties. Those "persons" can be voted out as well if they don't perform as the voters want. I think the Republicans who still cling to Tramp will have short careers, hopefully being replaced by more sensible opponents in the primaries by republican voters. The 2022 elections, especially the primaries, will be more influential and telling than 2020 by far. That goes for both Republicans and Democrats. I also predict the Tramp appointees to the Supreme Court and other Federal courts will not be Tramp loyalists as he and some others thought. If they were, Joe Biden might not be in the White House today.

I agree that Supreme Court Justices have their own idea about what is constitutional and that Trump does not have power over them. The Supreme Court is now a solidly conservative court none the less. Trump got more popular votes than any Republican in American history. A shocking amount of support remains for Trump in the Republican party. That said, it remains a fact that young Americans who will become voting Americans in the near future are predominantly liberal. It remains a fact that the majority of the elderly who died of covid were Republicans and the life expectancy has declined since Trump was elected (life expectancy in the United States).
Trump tried to defund Medicare and Social Security and McConnell liked that. Trump removed the requirement for businesses to pay FICA taxes (he called them payroll taxes) by executive order. He promised to make the elimination of payroll taxes permanent if he prevailed last November.
Ending Social Security and Medicare is a Republican dream. It is on their bucket list. This speaks to the insanity of Trump conservatives. Red State voters vote against their own interest. Elderly Republicans voting to end Social Security and Medicare are voting against their own interest.
One analysis of this suggests that racism is the reason. These "conservative" voters want to hurt the Black people and they don't care if they get hurt as long as it hurts Black people too. It is the political terrorist clown car filled with suicide bombers targeting Black people.
