It's been happening since the planet was formed.

It's been happening since the planet was formed. Wow! You must be really really old to remember that far back.

Yes, the Earth was so hot when it was originally formed that it was molten. It cooled until a crust appeared, but then it was impacted by a planetoid and became molten again. All the gold that had been on the surface in the crust (from impacts with asteroids and other smaller solar system objects) went to the center of the Earth along with other highly dense metals like uranium.
Eventually a crust reformed and some gold was brought to that crust from impacts with other asteroids. The Moon also was impacted by gold bearing asteroids, mostly on the "dark" side.
As the earth cooled life appeared. The atmosphere changed as life became more prevalent. The production of oxygen from the use of the carbon in CO2 by plants, allowed more water to form on Earth and in the atmosphere. The creation of the ozone layer from oxygen that was created, shielded the new life from too much radiation. Weather began to be more like the weather we think of when we hear the term. The Milankovitch cycles led to regular cooling and warming cycles and we have a record of those cycles over the last 450,000 years in the ice core data from Vostok, Antarctica. About 10,000 years ago was the last peak of a Milankovitch cycle. The Earth since then should have been cooling. The Earth every decade should be getting colder now. This is how the normal climate change would be happening without anthropogenic influences. People in colder areas made fires to stay warm and to cook food. Agriculture led to burning of forests to create farmland. This happened tens of thousands of years ago. Farming led to the establishment of civilization (Sumeria) and water rights (China), with irrigation. It led to the establishment of a legal system.
The fires became more prevalent and wars introduced more fires. The industrial age led to more CO2 being created. Poisoning of the oceans with plastic and petroleum led to the decline in the protozoa that used to create 70% of the oxygen in our atmosphere. Now it only creates a little less than 50% of the oxygen.
Forbes says "Earth's Oxygen Levels Are Declining And Scientists Don't Know Why" Marine biologists know why.
