Taylor Swift seems to have gotten out of Jury Duty. I've always wanted to serve but because of my hearing I've been turned down twice. I wear hearing aids in both ears. They only pay a juror here 12.50 a day, no big loss I guess. Their cheap.

I found jury duty to be unpleasant. The decision making in felony cases was not easily done by me.

What does jury duty pay there Lowell? Did you sit on a jury? Most People I know that have served went but never sat on a jury. Because of my hearing problem they told me to go home. I ask, the police are not coming and knocking on my door are they? They said no they won't. There were like 300 t0 400 people sitting around looking at one another. It didn't look like much fun.

I've been called 9 or 10 times, sat on 5 different trials, foreman on the last one I sat on.
Did about the many types of trials, from criminal to civil, from murder, rape, sexual assault, theft, to law suits.

I served on two. One was a witness intimidation trial. The defendant asked his lawyer to let him testify and in cross examination he admitted to what amounted to witness intimidation. Without that, he probably wouldn't have been convicted. The other was a theft of a computer from a pizza parlor. We were told that there are more than enough people who want to serve and so most people never respond to the summons. So there is no penalty enforced for ignoring the summons. Here, it pays $10 a day.
