About two weeks ago someone dumped off 7 cats here. I called Animal Control and left a message. They did not respond. Today I called again and got to talk to a person and not a machine. I explained the cat problem I'm having. The woman told me they were probably community cats and they were protected. She said the best they could do was come out and pick the cats up and take them and have their ears and nails clipped and neuter them. But they would have to bring them back to where they got them....HERE. OMG, I now have 7 cats.

Here they trap stray animals, take them to a sheltr and put them in fostre homes until they are ready to be adopted. I will agree that getting fertile animals fixed will stop the reproduction but strange that they would bring them back to the same neighboorhood.
Try calling the SPCA and see what they will do or if you can catch them take them down to an SPCA shelter. You can ask the animal control to loan you some traps to catch the cats

The lady explained to me that there is a new law and they have to go by it. I won't stop trying to find a solution to the cat problem. I've made a mistake by feeding them but I can't stand to see anything go hungry so I bought a bag of dry cat food.

Long ago I took about that many cats to the pound and they had to accept them. If you take the cats and drive them there, I think they have to take them.

Here there is a mobile cat clinic that fixes them for free.
