Often prayers are not answered or at least not answered the way we want them answered. Over the years I have learned that when we pray we often tell God how we want him to do it. I think the secret to getting prayers answered is to ask God for what we want and then tell God to do it his way, not our way, not tying his hands.

We, within our ministry, have intercessory prayer ministries. We ask for help, we command certain helps based on His Word and have high expectations. In league with other individuals sometimes their faith (truth that is "acted" upon) is required for an answer. We have seen far too many instant answers as well as the answers that either take time or are prayers that have been presented amiss. Those who by reason of "use" have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. As strong meat belongs to them of full age. (Heb 5:14) The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. The effectual fervent:to be operative, be at work, put forth power. Greek 1754-1756 and ἐνεργής energḗs, en-er-gace'; from G1722 and G2041; active, operative:—effectual, powerful.
To expunge any cavalier response concerning praying for rain to stop or start today is praying amiss and not discerning the Word.

I have not seen it on that scale in some time. I don't know if it's something lacking on my part or not, I know it's nothing lacking on God's part. I once listened to John Hagee and he gave Scripture to read and pray for those who mistreat you. There was one particular person who was very unkind to me, so every day while reading the Bible I included the scripture given by John Hagee. The person died and they were relatively young by today's standards. It's not what I wanted. I am very cautious now.

It is not your prayer that caused the person to have died. We all will be judged by what we do here in this realm of learning by who and what we have become. This all comes from what we truly love. When we first started our prayer lives it was a copy of others prayers, written prayers and even the Lord's prayer. God wants to hear from you and from your heart. Full of honesty, without reservations and with all hope and perseverance. As to the power? It comes from the amount of the Christ revealed within us, Christ in you the Hope of Glory. The Greek meaning of Glory is to think, so let this mind be in you as it was in Christ. Consider the following scriptures with the words of our Lord Jesus: αἰτέω aitéō, ahee-teh'-o; to ask (in genitive case):— ask, beg, call for, crave, desire, require.Matt 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. John 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: Mat 7:711 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
