You are preaching to the choir when it comes to cuts to the military. Ours is a military family ( retired ) I will agree there is a lot of pork that could be cut. And I agree with replacing the U2 with drones. Drones are more effective without placing personnel in direct danger However, I draw the line at cutting or denying services to Disabled Vets and retired personnel.. They've done their time, they've fulfilled their mission, and now they can't have a 'do over' We have to keep incentives in place in order to draw the most intelligent and devoted enlistees.. when cuts start to impact services, then enlistment will certainly go spiralling downward. My personal soap box is the bottlenecking of our East Coast carrier fleet in one port.. that's a disaster waiting to happen.

You would know more about it then. My sister-in-law lives in Huntsville, Ala., retired Army. After he retired they decided to stay there. Guess she was about moved out, you know how that is. Yes we are free because they fought. They should get everything that they are entitled to. I don't think this is a good time to be cutting our military back in anyway. Sure cut out the waste but we need them now more than ever. Russia is building and improving their military, we are cutting back? Doesn't make any sense.

Well, if they cut the pork, that would be enough. That would leave enough money for critical needs. Anytime a dept pays 200.00 and upwards, for an ordinary hammer, and it's not even a special hammer, that's insane. There is also a lot of nepotism and other favors concerning civilian contracts. Contracts do not always go to the best for the best quote, there is a lot of pork there also. Technology is in a constant state of change. A lot of the old 'clunkers', be it in aviation or ships, can be effectively replaced by fewer that will accomplish the same missions.

Technology is great, but nothing beats man power. Technology makes mistakes and can fail. Man power won't.
