A good one CP but to me evil would be more profound, depraved.

Evil is of and out of the love of self and the love of the world. (The world: lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life) 1 John 2:16
When one just loves self all effort goes to that end to the detriment of any other individual. That love of self only uses others for the sake of gain to satisfy its lust. Its love of the world is only to gain all of what they can posses without the concern of others. The opposite of what Jesus taught when He indicated what the greatest commandment is. The inherent attribute of the love of self and the love of the world is its creation of "every" evil work and the cause of the same.
Think of an evil person or group, Hitler, Saddam Hussein, ISIS or even the Westboro Baptist Church. The common theme within each, in some degree or another, is the love of self and of the world.

"Every being, from the highest sage on down to the smallest mosquito or gnat, holds life to be its most precious possession. To deprive a being of life is to commit the gravest kind of sin.
When the Thus Come One appeared in this world, he made compassion for living things his basis. And as an expression of compassion for life, to refrain from taking life and to provide sustenance for living beings are the most important precepts."

Good explanation.

What does evil mean to you? Evil means different things to different people, but if you really want to see pure evil go to any death row and look into the eyes of those waiting for the ultimate punishment. Sure there might be some who are innocent on death row but their look is different than those who really deserve to be there. It is scary.

Evil is a type of insanity. It is foolishness. A short-sighted person is capable of evil. A person who understands the consequences of their thoughts, words, and actions completely and perfectly well, will never choose to do evil. An enlightened person will act with compassion to eradicate suffering and bring benefit to all entities. There are few enlightened people, in fact it is very rare that an enlightened being is met.
Those people on death row who are guilty and who have an evil look in their eyes and demeanor, are criminally insane.

Prosecutors consistently get it wrong. There are innocent people right now on death roll. I don't believe Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the state or anyone else should be able to take a life. There's a man here in this area, David Camm. Twice He was convicted of killing his wife and children, twice the verdict was over turned. On the third trial he was found not guilty. Around here everyone is familiar with that case.
