I use to get up early and run 5 miles every morning. Several years ago I was in Chicago street preaching and handing out Gospel Tracts in front of a adult business. They didn't appreciate my being there, I had been run off before. I was beat up, and that's an understatement. Anyway because of surgery on my foot I can no longer run, I can walk though, so I walk 3 miles every morning. This morning I was attacked by a dog. That dog tried every way to bite me. There was a woman there calling for the dog but the dog wouldn't obey her. I told her as soon as I get home I'm calling the police and I did. The police called me and said where are you I'm at that location, I told him I'll be right there. I talked to him and pointed out the house the lady came out of and he said he was going to have a talk with her. I don't know what happened after that but that dog better not be there in the morning.

You should always carry pepper spray when you're out walking, even in your own neighborhood.
My granddaughter and daughter have both pepper spray and stun guns. Tasers are illegal here except for law enforcement and other authorized public respondors, but you can buy stun guns and pepper spray just about anywhere. Get some and carry it with you.
I considered whether or not to ask this question. So please don't take it the wrong way, I'm merely curious.
You said you were attacked while 'street preaching' near or in front of an adult establishment. In Florida, there are laws concerning zoning regulations. But maybe your particular situation would be more of a freedom of speech situation. As I said, in Florida, any business that is considered an 'adult' type business' cannot do business within a determined location, from a church , school or daycare facility. In turn, if the adult type business was there first, a church, school or day care facility has the same restrictions. They cannot be built within the same location restriction from the already established adult business. So knowing the conflict it may cause, why did you decide to preach that close to an adult business ? Was it something you thought was your 'calling ' to do ? I'm sure freedom of speech would enter into the equation somewhere, since you are only an individual and not a business. Did you realize the danger in which you were placing yourself at the time ?

The Cop ask me if I had a stick, I said no. He said you need to get one and carry it when you go walking.

I've did a lot of things like that. I was staying in a hotel once and this guy with long hair kept inviting me to his room. I preached to him, that I was a child of God and I won't do things like that. I talked to him over 30 minutes and he began to cry. I baptized him in the swimming pool in front of everyone. I'll tell anyone who I am in Christ. Oro said I was a religious fanatic....He should be so lucky.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not particularly 'religious' I do believe in God, but when it comes to 'religion' I'm not zealous. There are just too many religions in the world, each claiming to be the right one. So I often defer on that subject. A lot of harm has been done in the name of 'religion', so I don't get all into that, just saying that I believe in God and his salvation is enough for me.
Speaking of long hair. My husband is letting his hair grow. He does this about once a year. He lets it get long enough, you have to have at least 10 inches in order to donate your hair to ' Cut for Cancer' ,a foundation that takes human hair and donates it to a company that makes wigs for chemo patients at no charge to them. The name has changed or morphed several times, so I'm not sure that's the name they operate under at the present, and there are several different charities that do this. Local hairdressers donate their time to cut hair that is to be given to the cause. He has about two inches to go. He's always had beautiful healthy thick hair and I don't see any signs of thinning after all thees years. I would love to do that too, but when my hair gets long enough to get into my eyes, it's gotta go. I'll help in some other way, like distributing fliers.

Revelation 3:16
"So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
I never said I was 'lukewarm ' about God, just about religion. Those are two separate, distinct subjects.

A difference without a distinction. Sounds almost like Pascal's Wager.
It's a good thing your husband is doing, too many people are takers and not givers.

I don't waste time arguing about religion. There are too many forms. And NO, my statement has nothing to do with Paschal's Wager. I've never doubted the existence of God, only the many, many religions and dogmas. My statement has a definite distinction.
There are arguments over who is right and wrong even within the Christian community. That's why it's a waste of time. Everyone is going to believe as they please, and in doing so, I wouldn't try to tell someone their religion is wrong anymore more than I would want them telling me that mine is.
Organized religion often gets between someone and their belief in God and has caused unnecessary suffering. Religion and it's many forms is a man made thing with varying dogmas and rights and wrongs. Some churches eschew dancing.. others regale in it Some churches will tell you it's a sin to consume alcohol... other not. Just way too much conflict. Some religions take up serpents...one size does not fit all. Religion has nothing to do with whether or not you believe in God.

Is it possible they're all right?

sydney; " "Unfortunately some of what you said is true. We are enlightened . Is it possible they're all right? "
In their own way, I suppose so, except in cases where so called 'religion' subjugates women, uses children as sexual objects in the name of God, and uses it as a reason to inflict pain, both emotional and physical on other human beings.
Sharia comes to mind, it seems as though Sharia always comes to my mind. And the Westboro Baptist Church group which uses hate as their major platform. I can't see how they could possibly be right.
The Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades and the Salem Witch hunts are but a few atrocities wrought in the name of religion.
