Due to recent circumstances I have been considering whether to keep this board going. Due to an accident to a neighbor I lost a couple rental trailers and have been spending almost 100% of my time getting the area cleaned, the burned out trailers moved out, and getting replacements. I also have to think about what cost increases I will have to sustain due to changes coming next year. Thankfully the board here is free but I feel I will short change everybody if I am gone more than online.
The poll will be open until Dec. 15th.

I hope you keep the board open, it's one of the few boards left of it's kind.

I've enjoyed this board a great deal. I hope you find some way to continue. I understand that sometimes circumstances happen that are beyond your control. So the decision is yours to make. Do what you are comfortable with. I'm sorry for your misfortune, I hope things return to normal for you in the near future Is there anything the members can do to help ?

Do what you are comfortable with. I'm sorry for your misfortune, I hope things return to normal for you in the near future Is there anything the members can do to help ? This has been a pain in the rear. The insurance has been real slow on paying off on the damages. Back when I started this place originally I had bought a nice double wide and it was temporary until I got the house built. But as time went on decided to create a little community with small trailers and rent them out or have empty spaces for people who wanted a nice quiet place to live. I got 5 FEMA trailers to begin with at $3,000 each, nice little one bedroom park model travel trailers. I had anywhere from 5 to 10 college students renting them at $300 each. The neighbor's fire burned two completely and two on each side suffered some major damage from the heat, one was so buckled that it would cost twice as much to repair than to replace. The problem was that school started and I had to move those students into another place and for now not getting that income. While the insurance has paid the problem is that the Fema trailers are getting hard to find and any replacements are going to be 2 to 3 times more than what I paid for the old trailers. Plus I will probably be without any tenants until next fall so that is another handicap. To make matters worse I had satellite service for the tenants and because all that equipment burned both Dish and DirectTV are seeking some $1500 to replace their equipment because it wasn't insured!! Fortunate for two of the students in that they had their contents covered but the other three in two trailers didn't, I helped them out as best I could especially for school stuff they lost, books, software, and laptops. On top of that all the electrical wiring, PVC piping, and a ton of other expenses, like hiring people to help clean up, are going to cost a small fortune. Thanks for the help but every thing really is fine and while it will set me back a bit, it is all covered and can be done in time. I'm really ok, just tired right now and a bit frustrated that the insurance took so long to pay off. Due to their lack of speed I lost some great tenants and hope i will get most back next year. I guess I just had to vent about the whole mess. I will be in and out for a while.

PS.
I have four other students who have their own trailers, two suffered a little heat damage but they are ok. I also have a retiree who downsized and has his own trailer.
One other side effect to this is that normally I cook two turkeys on my smoker, the students and others bring dishes and we have a feast outside, but this year that has been put on hold...
more venting. ugh...

When it rains, it pours. The upside is that no one was hurt or died. 'Stuff' can be replaced, human life cannot. God says he will not place more on us than we can bear. I hope this is the take away for you. Take care and keep the faith, things will be better in time.

Although lost two cats and that was a loss that hit hard.

Keep the board. May the Lord help you and yours in the circumstances and may they improve.

I'd like it to stay open. I've lost the board and now I found it once again.
