I ordered a book from Amazon well over a week ago and I just checked and it's not been mailed yet, so I cancelled it. I'll pick it up locally. I was trying to save myself a trip across the county. Amazon has gotten a lot bigger in recent years and now they're having problems. If they don't have the item you want they use vendors and some are unreliable.

I've always had good results from Amazon. My orders usually arrive in a timely fashion. EBAY, on the other hand does not have the same results. Since items on EBAY are from individuals, they can pretty much get around to mailing your item when the spirit moves them. Word of caution. I recently had a security problem with online ordering. Hackers were involved. Thank goodness they were unsuccessful. It is recommended that you change your pass word every six weeks. Yes, it's a pain, but not nearly as painful a s identity theft.

I am wary of EBay but use Amazon a lot, and have had few problems with Amazon.

I only had a problem with Amazon once. I ordered a couple DVD's and for some reason they couldn't schedule it for months. So I cancelled and bought locally.

I am wary of EBay but use Amazon a lot, and have had few problems with Amazon. I've used both for years. I always pay with Pay Pal. I do not EVER suggest adding your bank account to your list of payment options. At least with Pay Pal you can be fairly assured of resolution of any payment or delivery problems.

I ordered some plastic plugs the other night, only 6.00. The vendor shipped it the next day. It said the latest I should get it was right before Christmas. Now what on earth could be so slow that it would take that long, yes it's snail mail but even a snail is faster then that.

I just checked on the above order and the reason it's taking so long is it's being shipped from hong kong. UNBELIVABLE. And on a 6.02 order. I have lost all respect for amazon. Snailmail from Hong Kong a first for me.

Snailmail from Hong Kong a first for me. Didn't it tell you the origin of the shipment location when you checked the sellers stats ? I've ordered things from China through Amazon and EBAY, but I expected a longer than usual shipping time. I've never been disappointed though. I usually try, and prefer to buy American, but If I can't find it locally I will go international. It just depends on what you want and how badly you want it. My wait from a Chinese location has been anywhere from 8-10 days to three weeks.

I am wary of EBay but use Amazon a lot, and have had few problems with Amazon. I am also wary of EBay. If you order from Amazon and Amazon is the one shipping the item your fine, but for some items they use vendors that work with Amazon and you can have problems, I know I have.

Haven't they always used vendors, at least they have for a long time. when you pull up an item, like books, CDs stc, it gives a list pf all available and each has a different vendor's name attached.

Yes, in some cases but if it's from a Amazon warehouse and it will tell you...shipped by Amazon. The vendors could be anyone, some are good others are not. I knew It was coming from a vendor Excel but little did I know they were in Hong Kong.

I still haven't got my plugs yet. They're probably traveling down some dirt road in Asia on the back of a yak.
