I personally, can't believe it was faked, if for no other reason than the huge numbers of personnel it to took, collectively, to put such an unprecedented event into place.
You would be hard pressed to find five people who could keep a secret of that magnitude,. Even after all these years, if it was fake, someone would have been forthcoming to write a book and blow the whistle. There is a massive amount of money to be had, for proof positive, that it was a fake. I'm only relying on human nature, the human drive to make money... or a deathbed confession.
Then on the other hand, maybe I'm just desperate to find one shred of truth embedded anywhere within our Government.

Those are excuses. Why did the landing pads have no dust on them? It stretches the imagination to believe the moon langing was true.

sydney.. I think the NG was merely quoting myths that have existed all these years, then providing answers from reliable sources. I saw nowhere where that it is the opinion of the NG that the landing was a fake. They were only exploring the urban myths then debunking them, one by one. The headline reads ; Photos : 8 Moon landing hoax myths busted...Meaning that for every hoax myth, there is an equal scientific, rational explanation.

From the same NG article : " "The fact of the matter is ... the lander's engines were throttled back just before landing, and it did not hover long enough to form a crater or kick up much dust, the Smithsonian's Launius said. "Science fiction movies depict this big jet of fire coming out as [spacecraft] land, but that's not how they did it on the moon," he added. "That's not the way they would do it now or anytime in the future." Another theory debunked.

They couldn't do it then and they still can't do it.

I agree to the fact that with all the people involved there is no way to keep this a secret for that long. I was out on the west cost that June in 1969, on base listening to the communications.
NASA had several military bases as a back-up to maintain communications with those on the moon. Vandenburg AFB was their main connection when in range, the base I was on was their back-up. There were those in Hawaii, Australia, and several other locations where anywhere from a dozen to a hundred personnel involved, that would be something to keep all of them quiet to support a hoax.

In order for three people to keep a secret, two of them would have to be dead. !

Anyone who thinks that the 500,000 people who contributed to the Apollo Space Program were complicit in a conspiracy to fake the results of said program needs to have their head examined. I cannot be kind about this, because nothing that came after, including the Space Shuttle and the ISS would have been possible were it not for the Apollo Program. Don't believe we went to the Moon? Where did all those Moon rocks come from? Because they certainly did NOT come from the Earth. Jeez, 46 years on, and this stupid conspiracy theory is still going? Nuts.

Moreover, we have been back, and are, in fact, orbiting the Moon today. China has been there, and so have the Europeans and the Japanese.

Believing we went to the moon would mean that we had the technology 50 years ago that Russia, China or anyone else still does not possess. I am skeptical.

Believing we went to the moon would mean that we had the technology 50 years ago that Russia, China or anyone else still does not possess. I am skeptical. But then, WTF do you know about technology?
Russia nearly had it, but couldn't get their Moon rocket to fly because of its complexity (it couldn't fly because it had dozens of complex engines in its first stage -engines which, by the way, have been used in our Antares rocket that blew up earlier this year). China wasn't trying to go to the Moon, so they had no incentive to come up with the technology.
And yes, we had the technology. And yes so did Russia. Moreover, we have the photos of the landing sites:
And the Moon rocks:
