I think homosexuality can be a sin and can also not be a sin. I differ a little from your view. I believe some gay people are born that way, they cannot help being what they are. I also think there are other gays that for what ever reason simply prefer to be with a person of the same sex.
So, in your opinion, the people who simply choose to be with a person of the same sex, would be just as happy in a heterosexual relationship ? Wouldn't they be defined as bi-sexual rather than a heterosexual gone astray ?
You spoke earlier of the 'old contract' ( Old Testament) and the new contract ( New Testament) .
I'm obviously not the Bible scholar that you are, never pretended to be.
So maybe you can answer this.
Is homosexuality referred to as a sin in the new contract.. New Testament?
If it is not mentioned in the New Testament, then would you consider it non applicable in today's world , such as the reference to. "
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth .?
That's where the lines blur for me. Things, laws, referred to in the Old Testament, are no longer applicable after the birth of Jesus, or The New Testament, the new contract ? Is that what you are saying...however, the Ten Commandments, the laws by which most of us aspire to follow were given to Moses in the Old Testament. How are we to go about decoding which declarations are still applicable and which aren't? Obviously we no longer offer animal sacrifices.. I'd have a hard time with that one, and besides we'd have PETA filling law suits
Just want your input.
And one more thing.
Homosexuality was condemned as a sin ( in the Old Testament) but incest was mentioned and not necessarily condemned as a sin. OR, maybe I didn't read further to know how God judged Lot
Lot's behavior.
Genesis `13:91
'Our father is getting old, and there are no men in the whole world to marry us so that we can have children. 32 Come on, let’s get our father drunk, so that we can sleep with him and have children by him.' (Genesis 19:31 - 32).
www.biblestudy.org/question/lot-and-his-daughters.htmlThe daughters proceed to get their father drunk with wine then have sex with him. They do such a good job at getting their father inebriated that the Bible says he did not know what was happening or what he was doing (verses 33, 35). The two women become pregnant and eventually give birth to boys named Moab (father of the Moabites tribe) and Benammi (father of the Ammonites).
So do you think God accepted Lot's drunken state to forgive him of incest with his own daughters ? Or was homosexuality a sin, but incest.. not so much ?
Just curious
Sorry, I got carried away. Maybe this should be moved to one of the spiritual or Christian boards. I'll leave that to admin.
