The traditional woolly mammoth stew, as I learned it, a long time ago, from my parents, was something like this:
Peel and quarter one large onion skin, and debone, one medium woolly mammoth cut into bite sized pieces place in large pot
Cook over bonfire until tender
Cook a bit longer if forced to make do with mastodon
