Oh, well. That's the way it goes sometimes.

I found some fake cheese (vegan) at the supermarket. One of them is spicy cheese slices. With those and the fake butter (also vegan), I can enjoy a baked potato more, now. I need to go to the store and get some more organic beer. One beer in the evening is also an easy pleasure.

Yeah, at your advanced age you need good nourishment. Yeah, in your advanced state of stupidity you are in serious need of brain food. 🤣

I have a genetic predisposition to hardening of the arteries. 5 years ago I had high blood pressure (it almost stopped me from driving a semi nationwide), and my bad cholesterol had my doctor wanting to put me on cholesterol lowering medicine. I became a vegan. My wife died 5 years ago and I no longer could rely on her for meals. She had continued to cook the same meals despite the possibility of reversing her diabetes with a vegan diet. She said that if she had to give up eating meat, she would rather die from diabetes. Her pancreas became inflamed. She died of acute pancreatitis.
Since becoming a vegan my bad cholesterol is 100 points lower, and my blood pressure is described as being "perfect".
At your age, if you are predisposed to diabetes or atherosclerosis, you need to be a vegan too.

It mimicked a stroke as I had numbness on my left side. I had never experienced high blood pressure or high cholesterol in the previous 10 years of annual physicals. I was put on cholesterol and blood pressure meds along with Coumadin as a preventative. Fortunately, I have had no reoccurrence of any problems and my annual blood work has been well inside the normal range. Basically, it sucks to get old.

My liver produces all the cholesterol I need. If I eat foods that contain cholesterol I end up with too much. I suppose something could trigger the liver to produce more cholesterol, or it may be that the liver naturally does this as we get older. It may be a genetic adaptation to aging. Those whose livers produced more cholesterol when they got so old that they couldn't hunt for meat or do the work required to maintain a herd of milk producing livestock, were more likely to survive longer than those whose livers didn't. My paternal ancestors were probably dirty old men who continued to sire children into old age, giving that genetic trait to more people as time went by.

I too have a genetic predisposition to hardening of the arteries. My grandfather had it, my father died in his sleep at at age 51 of either a massive heart attack or a stroke. Being that it happened in 1963 there was no requirement for an autopsy. When I had my blood clot, my mother, now deceased, stated that I had the curse of my father’s family. We deal with the cards that we are dealt in life.
