Since my wife is out of town and I struggle to boil water I am going out for linner. That translated means a late lunch/early dinner. I have had two doughnuts today so it’s time for real food.

I'm actually pretty handy in the kitchen, but sometimes it's not worth the mess to cook for one, unless it's something simple. I usually come up with something because I don't enjoy eating out by myself.

I did not go far as I also ran an errand or two when I was out. My plan was a beer and food than home. Struck up a conversation with a guy who went to the same high school as I. We talked about teachers that we both had WAY back when. It turned into a a three hour event. Quite enjoyable.
Unlike you Sydney, I do have a life other than message boards and your “Forum of the month club”.

I like running into people from my past and seeing what they're up to, even if I didn't know them well. Sometimes those can be the most enjoyable conversations because you may see them in a totally different way now than you did back then. Up until last year when Covid stopped it, we had an annual informal reunion at a local tavern/restaurant. I've gotten to know some of those people I really didn't know 50 plus years ago. We missed out on our regular 50 year reunion too. I have a gift of remembering faces, and usually the names that go with them. It's not unusual for me to strike up conversations like that.

This guy was not in my class. He was nine years behind me but it was fun to talk about our experiences with the same teachers. My 50 year reunion was canceled due to Covid-19 as well. I only occasionally run into my classmates from 1970.

I have a group of three other couples who we have been close to since high school. Not all from the same school or graduating class, some several are. One of the guys was in my class. One from the following class and one from the same class from another high school. We were having dinner once a month until Covid. Now we are doing group texts. Everyone in the group has had at least one Covid shot. That, along with the warmer weather, means we'll be getting back together for dinner soon, but we will choose places with outdoor dining. May is our month to pick the restaurant, so I'm going to see if we can get together at Mike Linnig's.

We live out in the east end and it is close to a 45 minute drive to get there.
