It can be viewed as a shift in how Republicans will vote in the Senate when they are given the articles of impeachment by the House. I think Pelosi is waiting for the 3 Democrat Senators to be sworn in.
It will take a 2/3 majority to convict. If that happens, we will see it appealed to the Supreme Court because it has never happened before and because Trump will no longer be President. Also there is some dispute about whether Trump will lose his Presidential retirement perks.
If he loses those, he will need to hire security guards and judgements against him in court will be harder to collect after his money is gone.

Also, no doubt that Pelosi is waiting to until the Democrats have control of the senate. As to a conviction after he leaves office being appealed to the Supreme Court, I don’t think that will happen. There have been impeachments of at least one other person after leaving office so there is precedent. From what I have read there is no dispute or question about his post presidency perks. If convicted, it only takes a simple majority to wipe his worthless ass from costing us taxpayers any more money.
