"The fool in his heart says there is no God."
It calls them fools. They are.

The bible says "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." That's one I've never heard before. Do you have chapter and verse?

Psalms 137.9 and you took it completely out of context. You have to be a nut case.

Psalms 137.9 and you took it completely out of context. You have to be a nut case. Not taking sides here, but why is your context more valid than Lowell's? You admitted you had never heard this before today, so the most you could have done was Google the interpretations of others who you've chosen to agree with. Lowell made no interpretation at all. He merely posted words from the Bible and you decided what his thoughts were and called him a nut case. The Bible also says "thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor".

It is very difficult to be a good Christian. Few can do what is necessary. Matthew tells us that Jesus said: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
This varies greatly from the Old Testament which tells us on at least 5 occasions that the Lord instructed His people to "Kill every Man, Woman, and Child."
It is almost as if Jesus is referring to a different deity. Mani said that the God of the Hebrew people prior to Jesus was the devil. That God certainly behaved like a cruel, selfish, arrogant devil.
When Christians of today face trouble and opposition they easily discard Christianity and embrace the law of Moses again. In fact they take more than a eye for an eye, or a tooth for a tooth. They will happily murder thousands on the pretext that those "enemies" might harm them at some future time. (Pre-emptive strikes of George Bush)
Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism is superior to all other religions, including Christianity. It compels those who embrace it, to adopt correct thoughts, correct words, and correct actions. It promises them "peace and security in this life, and good circumstances in the next."
You may be unhappy, perhaps the man you chose to be President lost. Happiness is the first benefit I received from practicing Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism correctly.
17b20 can become happy by chanting Nam-Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo to the Gohonzon. This is a bigger benefit than you may realize. Even wealth cannot guarantee happiness, let alone peace and security in this life, and better circumstances in the next. A Buddhist teacher said "A rich man is in constant danger." Gaga showed us that a rich woman is also in constant danger.

You didn't say "When some calling themselves Christians". You make the assumption all Christians act in unison or don't follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I suspect there are those who claim to be Buddhists who do not rightly follow all Buddhist teachings. Tiger Woods comes to mind. Claiming one religion is "superior" to another is much like saying someone is a nut case because they interpreted a Bible quote differently or didn't interpret it at all. It seems that Buddhism and Christianity, if practiced as taught, would result in correct thought, words and actions. I haven't studied Buddhism, but I suspect blanket criticism of other religions, other people, or other groups of people in general, doesn't fit the definition of "practicing Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism correctly".

Christianity is no longer effective for treating the poisons that afflict the people of today. It was an improvement to the Law of Moses, and was beneficial for saving people prior to the year 1260.
In the beginning was the word and then the word was with God and then the word was God, and the word existed in the darkness and the darkness knew it not.
In the beginning was Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo and then Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo was pregnant with the Buddha, and then Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo was the Buddha, and Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo existed in the darkness of our eternal lives and we knew it not.
In this time period, only Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo can save people from suffering and produce the tranquil joy of enlightened life. Because Christianity no longer produces actual proof of being able to change the destiny of Christians, Myo-Ho-Ren-Ge-Kyo shall prevail.
This is why all Christians abandon the commandment to "love your enemy" and resort to the "eye for an eye" (though even more than that is exacted).
I am glad that 17b20 agrees and has found the tranquil joy of enlightened life through chanting the Mystic Law.

Indeed I did not say "some Christians". Similarly I did not say that some Christians attain the tranquil joy of enlightened life. The founder of Nichiren Shoshu would also not say that. Let's examine what Nichiren said. "For you to inquire about the Lotus Sutra and ask its meaning is a rare source of good fortune. In this age of the Latter Day of the Law, those who ask about the meaning of even one phrase or verse of the Lotus Sutra are far fewer than those who can hurl Mount Sumeru to another land like a stone, or those who can kick the major world system away like a ball. They are even fewer than those who can embrace and teach countless other sutras, thereby enabling the monks and lay believers who listen to them to obtain the six transcendental powers. Equally rare is a priest who can explain the meaning of the Lotus Sutra and resolve people’s doubts concerning it. The “Treasure Tower” chapter in the fourth volume of the Lotus Sutra sets forth the important principle of the six difficult and nine easy acts. Your asking a question about the Lotus Sutra is among the six difficult acts. This is a sure indication that, if you embrace the Lotus Sutra, you will become a Buddha in your present form.
Since the Lotus Sutra defines our body as the Dharma body of a Thus Come One, our mind as the reward body of a Thus Come One, and our actions as the manifested body of a Thus Come One, all who uphold and believe in even a single phrase or verse of this sutra will be endowed with the benefits of these three bodies. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is only one phrase or verse, but it is no ordinary phrase, for it is the essence of the entire sutra. You asked whether one can attain Buddhahood only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, and this is the most important question of all. This is the heart of the entire sutra and the substance of its eight volumes.
The spirit within one’s body of five or six feet may appear in just one’s face, which is only a foot long, and the spirit within one’s face may appear in just one’s eyes, which are only an inch across. Included within the two characters representing Japan is all that is within the country’s sixty-six provinces: the people and the animals, the rice paddies and the other fields, those of high and low status, the nobles and the commoners, the seven kinds of treasures and all the other precious gems. Similarly, included within the title, or daimoku, of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the entire sutra consisting of all eight volumes, twenty-eight chapters, and 69,384 characters, without the omission of a single character. Concerning this, Po Chü-i stated that the title is to the sutra as the eyes are to the Buddha. In the eighth volume of his Annotations on “The Words and Phrases of the Lotus Sutra,” Miao-lo states, “When for the sake of brevity one mentions only the daimoku, or title, the entire sutra is by implication included therein.” By this he means that, although for the sake of brevity only the title of the sutra is spoken, the entire sutra is contained in the title alone.
Everything has its essential point, and the heart of the Lotus Sutra is its title, or the daimoku, of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. Truly, if you chant this in the morning and evening, you are correctly reading the entire Lotus Sutra. Chanting daimoku twice is the same as reading the entire sutra twice, one hundred daimoku equal one hundred readings of the sutra, and one thousand daimoku, one thousand readings of the sutra. Thus, if you ceaselessly chant daimoku, you will be continually reading the Lotus Sutra. The sixty volumes of the T’ien-t’ai doctrines give exactly the same interpretation. A teaching this easy to uphold and this easy to practice was expounded for the sake of all living beings in the evil world of this latter age. A passage from the Lotus Sutra reads, “In the Latter Day of the Law . . .” Another reads, “If a bodhisattva mahāsattva in the latter age hereafter, when the Law is about to perish, should accept and embrace, read and recite this sutra . . .” A third states, “In the evil age of the Latter Day of the Law if there is someone who can uphold this sutra . . .” A fourth reads, “In the last five-hundred-year period you must spread it [the Lotus Sutra] abroad widely.” The heart of all these passages is the admonition to embrace and believe in the Lotus Sutra in this Latter Day of the Law. The learned authorities in Japan, China, and India have all failed to comprehend this obvious meaning and have slandered the sutra. They follow and practice the Hinayana and the provisional teachings upheld by the Nembutsu, True Word, Zen, and Precepts schools, thereby discarding the Lotus Sutra. They misunderstand the Buddha’s teachings, but the people are ignorant of their mistakes. Because they appear to be true priests, the people trust them without the slightest doubt about what they preach. Therefore, without realizing it, the people who follow them have become enemies of the Lotus Sutra and foes of Shakyamuni Buddha. It is obvious from the sutra that not only will all their wishes remain unfulfilled, but their lives will be short, and after this life, they will be doomed to the great citadel of the hell of incessant suffering.
Even though one neither reads nor studies the sutra, chanting the title alone is the source of tremendous good fortune. The sutra teaches that women, evil men, and those in the realms of animals and hell—in fact, all the beings of the Ten Worlds—can attain Buddhahood in their present form. [This is an incomparably greater wonder than] fire being produced by a stone taken from the bottom of a river, or a lantern lighting up a place that has been dark for a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand years. If even the most ordinary things of this world are such wonders, then how much more wondrous is the power of the Buddhist Law! We ordinary beings are fettered by evil karma, earthly desires, and the sufferings of birth and death. But due to the three inherent potentials of the Buddha nature—innate Buddhahood, the wisdom to perceive it, and the actions to manifest it—we can without doubt reveal the Buddha’s three bodies—the Dharma body, the reward body, and the manifested body. The Great Teacher Dengyō states, “Through the power of the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law they can do so in their present form.” He is referring to the example of the dragon king’s daughter, who achieved Buddhahood in her reptilian form through the power of the Lotus Sutra. Do not doubt this in the least. Please tell her that I will explain this in detail when I see her.

This is a very important thing for Kirk to understand, let's repeat the words of Nichiren in the above letter.
"The learned authorities in Japan, China, and India have all failed to comprehend this obvious meaning and have slandered the sutra. It is obvious from the sutra that not only will all their wishes remain unfulfilled, but their lives will be short, and after this life, they will be doomed to the great citadel of the hell of incessant suffering."
Nembutsu is the Buddhist equivalent of Christianity. Nichiren tells us that "It is obvious from the sutra that not only will all their wishes remain unfulfilled, but their lives will be short, and after this life, they will be doomed to the great citadel of the hell of incessant suffering."
It would be better for them to be an atheist. In fact, Christians consider Nichiren Shoshu buddhists to be atheists because Nichiren Shoshu teaches that the True Buddha is a Common Mortal. and the Buddha is a transient Buddha. Nichiren Shoshu considers all Gods to be subservient and inferior to the True Buddha who is a Common Mortal. Therefor, to deprive even one Common Mortal of life is to commit the gravest type of sin.
"To deprive a being of life is to commit the gravest kind of sin. When the Thus Come One appeared in this world, he made compassion for living things his basis. And as an expression of compassion for life, to refrain from taking life and to provide sustenance for living beings are the most important precepts." (Nichiren)

That's a little too much to read, but I'm guessing the gist was "Christians Bad, Buddhists Good". We'll just leave it at that and move on.

That's a little too much to read, but I'm guessing the gist was "Christians Bad, Buddhists Good". We'll just leave it at that and move on. Nichiren took the position that only the one phrase that praises the title of the Lotus Sutra can save people from suffering and change their destiny. Most Buddhists today do not revere the Lotus Sutra and praise it daily. Nichiren predicted they would fall into hell when they died. The same is true for all other religions that do not praise the title of the Lotus Sutra. Some take bits of what they consider to be the best from many religions. Bahai is one of those. They do not praise the title of the Lotus Sutra though. So it is not just "Christians Bad, Buddhists Good". It is all Buddhists other than Nichiren Shoshu bad and all other religions bad too. It is better to have no religion than to have an incorrect religion. Incorrect beliefs lead to suffering. Atheists are good compared to all non-Nichiren Shoshu believers.

Okay, so we'll just leave it at "your religion good, every other religion bad" and move on.
