Yesterday the cruise ship visited Ulukhaktok. It has teamed up with the icebreaker "Ernest Shackleton".
Ulukhaktok means the place where ulu parts are found. The hills nearby were a source of copper and stone used for making the traditional inuit knife, known as the ulu.

Today the Crystal Serenity arrives at Cambridge Bay. Cambridge Bay is where the shipwreck of the Maud (one of Asmundsen's ships) has recently been raised, (on July 31st, 2016). It will be shipped to Norway perhaps next year.

They have left Cambridge bay and are currently sailing through Victoria Strait. They report a line of ice on the left side in the distance. They have seen some polar bears. They will be sailing through Franklin Strait which is ice free. www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=C6SY3

They visited Beechey Island. It is notable for having the graves of early explorers.

Viewing the Serenity's ship locator site, shows that they have made excursions of fjords in Devon Island and Baffin Island. They encountered less ice than expected and were far ahead of their scheduled time of arrival at Pond Inlet.

They visited one more fjord for the fun of it and are apparently on their way to a stop in Greenland.

The Crystal Serenity is still touring Greenland and has moved South of the Arctic Circle. The Northwest Passage traverse is now successfully accomplished.
