Islam, they bow down 5 times a day to pray, they live, eat and breath their religion, it is their whole life. They do whatever their leaders tell them to do, they have little or no individual personalities, they eat what they tell them to eat, they live how they tell them to live, they marry as they are told, they raise their children the same way. Every one must wear the same thing, they all do the same things, they do not allow freedom of speech, dress, thought, or lifestyle. They force their women into a mold that all must follow. They have to wear tents wherever they go, keep their faces covered and always be escorted by a male. They are not allowed freedom of choice. Sounds pretty fanatical to me. What do you think? There are moderate Muslims just as there are reformed Jews. I think all religions have degrees of principles. I worked with a Muslim couple. They came to this country from Bosnia during the war. The wife is beautiful, she wears western clothing, and is an entertainer. She sings and sings very well. They observe Islam holy days, but they are westernized in every other way. She has all the freedoms as any other American woman. She loves shopping, going to the spa etc. They are both now American citizens. They have one daughter who was born here in the US. She is a typical American girl. Cheer leading, ballet, all the things an American child does. They have said they will not force their religion on her, lax as it is.

I am always happy to hear of someone escaping from religious fanatics. Any kind of fanatics for that matter. May God bless them and I wish them the best. Welcome to America. Land of the free.

Want to add, my grandfather was not like that. He never put anyone down for being a Christian. Live and let live. I had a uncle that was probably a lot like your grandfather. Everyone liked him...one of the good ole boy types. I thought a lot of him and a lot of other people did as well. He never went to church, didn't own a Bible, never prayed. By the true definition of the word he was an atheist. But that word applied to him would be offensive to me. I would like to think of him as a non-believer. I understand what you mean dayrain.

He sounds a lot like my grandfather. No, he never referred to himself as an atheist. Non-believer. I like that better too.

History furnishes many illustrations in the decline and fall of nations and empires, ending in despotism and materialism.I posted this within this thread to illustrate an Atheist organization and its desire to control and diminish religious practices of any sort until they no longer exist. Postulating an idea of something that would exceed and replace what they consider "assumptions of authority," (God), verifiable by experience and scientific methods. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. I have posted on scientific boards a question about my OBE experience and a Prophet's recounting; the discounting of that "experience" was an incredulous amount of reasoning based on the five senses and not reaching any conclusion at all.
Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going". We understand His testimony through our personal experience of Christ in us. We know more precisely where we have come from and where we are going. We also understand what we have of God in Christ through our experiences. So much for "blind pitiless indifference." But you (we) have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
There is contained within the NT three "musts" that need to be followed in order to experience God through Christ. 1. One "must" be born again. 2. One "must" worship God in Spirit and in truth. 3. They that come to God "must" believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
Otherwise one is ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth about God through anti-theistic ambition and materialism.
They are very zealous about erasing God from everything. As always there is one little bitty thing they forget. God Despite their vigorous attempts it will be to no avail. God will be known. Gods Will shall be done, regardless of their puny pathetic attempts to erase the Almighty. They need to read the fine print, Almighty means just that. He is Almighty. I am aware of their organization and have encountered some online, hateful and belligerent, they are militant. Remind me of the militant Muslims. They want to wipe out all evidence of God. The militant Muslims want to wipe out all other religions. They would make a good pair. Never have I met a group of people so blinded from the truth as these are.
Too bad we can't send them up to the hidden mountain sect, let them all fight it out. Yes, the Muslims, the Atheists and the Snake Folk. I am betting on the Snake Folk, they cheat, they have the snakes. May the best fanatic win!
How can darkness put out the light? Only by getting in the way of it. The light is still there.

God lies in every piece of matter or energy, and in every living creature. No one has a monopoly on God.

God lies in every piece of matter or energy, and in every living creature. No one has a monopoly on God. You are eactly right. However there are those that claim a special closeness with God. They have prayer towers etc. They will be happy to pray for you or anyone else, send your prayer request and don't forget to enclose a love offering....give until it hurts...ouch. If God will hear them he will hear you. Some of these people cause Christianity to get a bad name.
