Is anyone else having trouble with Norton's not wanting to work with windows 10? At first I was having problems but it's better now.

I am using Windows Defender. It is inherent with Windows 10. Of course if you are using Norton's, Windows Defender is disabled, as two anti-virus programs don't co-exist well.

You never needed Norton. Even if Windows did not have Defender there are at least two free anti-virus programs and at least one free anti-malware program out there.

Yes, CP I'm aware of those sites but they're not very good. If you use them your pc might get infected.

I wouldn't begin to think I couldn't get infected no matter what I used. There's a new hacker out there every five minutes, dear, if not sooner. Getting around security is a game to some. That's why in the "real world" there are jails.

I know but what I'm saying is Norton's is better than the AVG free edition or that one from Microsoft. Besides I already had it installed and have around 260 days left on it.

Don't use AVG myself, but will if there's nothing else.

It's better than nothing. I have found out Norton's is not compatible with windows 10. I already have it in my computer so I disabled it. I am using windows defender. Windows and Norton's are suppose to be working on the problem and will have a fix soon.

I saw a news article not too long ago about Microsoft's new efforts at battling viruses and hackers. They are using at least as many resources as any other company and working just as diligently at protecting the public. So I feel comfortable with Windows Defender for now. It is important to reboot the computer once in a while so it can install the updates. I leave my computer on all the time because I use magicjack for my phone. Windows 8.1 would tell me when updates needed to be installed if I hovered the mouse cursor over shut down, or restart. Windows 10 doesn't do that. So I rebooted last night and was surprised when it had updates to install. The updates often contain security fixes.

I have Windows 10 in my H.P. now. I have a Sony that has Windows 7 and I now have the Icon at the bottom about Windows 10. I think I'll hold off until that get the compatibility between Norton's and Windows fixed. It has Norton's in it also. Both computers are laptops. I am real cautious about running with out Norton's, I have gotten a virus before....NO FUN.

I got viruses before. It helps to have a backup so you don't have to format and reinstall windows. I tell everyone that, but I never made backups before. Now microsoft and Acer have forced me to make a backup with a usb hard drive that is sold for just that purpose. The Acer desktop I bought did not come with the operating system on a disc. It kept bugging me to do the backup. That is the only way you can reinstall the operating system. I got a nasty virus a few years back, that the free antivirus program could detect, but it couldn't remove it. So I bought Kaspersky. Kaspersky removed it. I considered the cost of a first class antivirus program worth the trouble of formatting and reinstalling windows. I had no more trouble with viruses after getting Kaspersky. That said, I am willing to venture with only the windows antivirus now, since I have a usb backup. Now that I have windows 10, Acer is bugging me to back that up, and I will buy another usb backup hard drive to do that, oh next payday. I smile because these promises I make to myself are so easily broken.

Lol, right. I found out that Norton's does not work on Edge but it still works on Internet Explorer, so I'll use Internet Explorer until they have a fix for windows 10.
