Can we be the beneficiaries of pure chance.....could pure chance be so generous and so kind? No, we are blessed where we know it or not.

How are we supposed to know? We don't know everything. I think I am blessed, but perhaps I am not. Since I think I am then I am happy. But I also think or believe that there is a God. There may or may not be. But I think there is. Doesn't mean it is true. But I guess it is true to me. Can you tell I don't know what the hell I am talking about? lol

I'm not sure it's either generous or kind, for a lot of people and a lot of lives. There's a lot of pain and suffering in the world, too much, IMO.

I've never expected life to be 'fair' That's beyond any reasonable expectations.

I've never expected life to be 'fair' That's beyond any reasonable expectations. Hi, Many times I have thought, is life fair? Fair means different things to different people, the word Fair. One sees different experiences in different ways and what I may think is okay another people may believe that it is okay to do such things. As one journeys in life and grows from experience the word Fair changes for each and every one of us. When I was a young mother I thought spanking a child was the way the to go so they could learn to be obedient. After taking quite a few classes on child behavior I understood that through spanking the child I was teaching the child to be abusive and violent. There are other methods that are more humane, however before I learned these different skills I thought it was fair to spank a child who, lets say stole money off the table. However speaking with a child and having them lets say do chores for the money they felt they needed for a project was a productive solution one could employ for a lasting sustainable outcome. A life of production comes with baby steps and as we step into different situations and places our roots grow deeper and wider with the diversity of experiences one places themselves in.

The ancient Greeks, who in many ways were fatalists, and who influenced me a lot, because I read a lot of their legends when I was growing up, thought life sucked. That being born was a curse. That even if you were fortunate, the Gods would take umbrage at your good fortune and punish you for it. A story sure to end badly. Or so I have read, in sources I do not recall. That if you were too successful in life, divine retribution would someday occur. That even the most successful people, the Napoleons and Einsteins, will fail, in their personal lives.
In any case, I find much to agree with in that assessment. Nonetheless, they felt it was our duty to do as good a job living life as we could, under the circumstances. Because doing so gives our lives dignity, and not even the God(s) could take that away from us.

A garden with only one type of plant eventually languishes, while a garden with diversity produces much, much more and continues to thrive.
