It's kind of like when Elisha's servant woke up early and behold an host compassed the city with horses and chariots. And His servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered him "fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." And Elisha prayed and said " Lord, I pray thee, " open the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. There are natural eyes and spiritual eyes. They were there all along but until God opened Elisha's servant's spiritual eyes he couldn't see them. You may read the Bible and see something I don't, my spiritual eyes may not be open to that at that time. Yes, to both questions. I will agree to one yes to my first question and disagree with the yes to my second question. The Spirit of Truth leads and guides to all truth. Truth from the Father of lights has no variation or change James 1:17. We should get the same revelation of any scripture, I have found that to be a truth. As sad as it might be and unfair as it might seem not everyone is given the same insight concerning faith matters.
In Matthew 20, Jesus taught that God does not operate according to our notion of fairness. In Matthew 20 Jesus told a story about a man who owned a vineyard. Early in the morning he hired some workers. Late in the day he hired others. When they got payed they were surprised to find out that the people who had bore the heat of the day received the same wages as the ones that were there only a short time. Fair? No one was cheated, all got what they agreed to work for.
Why do we have nice houses and comfortable beds to sleep in, plenty of food to eat, medicine, while in other areas of the world people live like animals. The thing they need to do is seek the Kingdom of God first, and all these things will be added to them. Matt 6:33.

Where I go to church the pastor has started using the NIV Bible which I never have liked. I have known for a long time that there are verses missing in it.....16. I have been checking and have found out why the writers of the NIV left those verses out. When they wrote the NIV they used better and even older manuscripts than the writers of the KJV had. In the older versions those verses were not in there so they were not included in the NIV which makes sense.
I have thrown away several NIV Bibles, now it looks like I'm going to end up buying one.
The NIV is, I guess a good Bible, but I prefer the Catholic Bible. Also I like reading the Coptic Bible, it has all the known books, while the other Bible leaves a lot out. the Coptics were the first Christians, the very first, and almost all were Egyptian. There were many dialects with languages from early Egyptian, to early Hebrew, and Greek, and the major problem is finding it in English. The New Testament has been translated and those copies have both the old language with English following, so each section is old language and then English. While you can download the whole old Testament a lot of those books have yet to be translated, but you get them in their original dialect. For information on the Coptic Bible click HERE. For the new Testament in English click HERE. Now this is a slow download because it is a big file.

There is a reason the KJV and the NIV do not contain all the books the Catholic Bibles does. First Jesus never quoted any of those books. The Jewish Bible including the Torah do not contain any of those Books. Example: The Book of Baruch. Baruch was Jeremiah's scribe. Those Books are not part of any Judeo- Christian common standards except the Catholic Bible . Inspired? The Jews didn't think they were, they didn't include them in their Bible. The writers of the KJV and NIV didn't know if they were scripture, so they left it out. I think if I'm not mistaken those books are referred to as books of knowledge or wisdom, not Holy Scripture. It's interesting. I didn't get a chance to read all the link you put up but I saved it and I will this afternoon....thanks.
One last thing, I am not fond of the NIV Bible. To me it's a confused mixture of several translations.

It is really something when you have what should be a Bible everyone can use why is there so many editions and why is there at times so many different interpretations. How did words get into the Bible, which was suppose to have been created at least 4000 years ago (for the old testament) have words that did not come into any language until the 1700s and the 1800s. What is it with same sex marriage or relationships, yes there is mention of being with the same sex, so was homosexuality prevalent 2000BC? And what about masturbation, that is also in the bible about wasting one's seed? I know that at that time just like it was in the early days of this country that population matters and you want to have as many offspring as possible to support the family. But was a lot of men and women masturbating that it had to be something in the bible?
And how about that mysterious city of Nod, where did it come from when we only had two adults and two children? And were did that wife come into being there in that city of Nod? I asked that question back when I was about nine in Catholic school and never got an answer that seemed reasonable. Now when we were learning about evolution and Genesis the discussion was centered on a God's day could have been a million years or a billion years, that it did not necessarily mean a 24 hour day. I know that some do take that literally and think it was a 24 hour day.
Anyway I am rambling now, I just do question some of the origin of the Bible and events that are suppose to have happened.

There's only one scripture in the Bible on masturbation...Genesis 38:9 Onan spilled his seed on the ground. That really wasn't about masturbation, Onan was suppose to raise up children to his brother but was against the idea. Onan was suppose to impregnate his wife and the children would be his dead brothers. She had been his sister in law. God wasn't mad because he spilled his seed upon the ground but because he refused to raise up children to his brothers. So God took his life. My take on masturbation is it's probably not a big deal or more would have been said on the subject.
I have read Genesis through many times and my take is there had to be other people on the Earth at the time of Adam and Eve, had to have been. Which begs the question, what was so different about Adam and Eve? My thoughts are they had Souls/Spirits while others did not.

Hmmm, I'll have to read that again, I know he would not impregnate his brother's wife, but I'm not sure he would not raise his brother's children. I'm not sure I'd impregnate my brother's wife either so it must be something within us. The fact that he had to die for spilling his seed seems rather criminal to me and that did make a point about masturbation even if it isn't stated. At least it did when I was a kid learning the Bible back in the day. I was in that stage when we were studying that and I thought, Oh Boy, I better not touch that!!! Now that is something I had not heard before, no souls... hmmm, wonder if there are any of their ancestors still around? That would make a good explanation for some horrid people. Now I have heard several other stories of where they came from and most centered on that it was a city created by angels and that Cain's wife might have been an angel. I married an angel, not in the spiritual sense of course. We'd probably still be married if ovarian cancer had not taken her. There could have been many Adams and Eves and the Bible is a historical account of this pair. My theory is that there were many with more Eves than Adams and communities sprang up pretty fast. Procreation was probably within the family group until somebody happened to find them or one of their offspring found another group.

I believe there are people living today that have no soul. Look to the middle east ISIS and the beheading. Could a person with a soul commit such acts?
That thing about Onan wasn't about a sin of impurity it was a sin of disobedience. For Onan to take his brothers wife and raise up children in his brothers name was part of the Jewish Law.

Everybody and, I also believe, every animal has a soul. now they might not seem like it but they do. Maybe that was part of Hebrew law. Not in today's Jewish law. Back in the Middle ages beheading was normal punishment, in the bible, taking a hand, an eye, an arm and a leg seemed to be punishment for offenses.

What is common to what you have indicated is one thing. Rom 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. The heart (will, affections and desires) comes first, not the mind (thoughts, intelligence, knowledge).

You believe in your heart and confess it with your mouth or your don't have salvation. Same way about healing, they both work the same way.

sydney; " "Why do we have nice houses and comfortable beds to sleep in, plenty of food to eat, medicine, while in other areas of the world people live like animals. The thing they need to do is seek the Kingdom of God first, and all these things will be added to them. Matt 6:33."
I'm not sure I agree with that ideology. Many, many people in this country are multi millionaires who live in ultra luxury and have never sought God. And I don't know how that would work for people living in third world countries. They have no out. They can 'seek the Kingdom of God " It may well be provided for them in the next life, but as far as the here and now I don't see that happening. Tyrannical governments, no education, no way out. I would like to believe ' All these things will be added to them " in the here and now, but according to stats on poverty and genocide in other countries, I don't see it happening. Maybe you are speaking of a 'spiritual addition"

Well, I did buy a NIV Bible. I got it at the Family Christian Bible Book Store here. It's a Fairly big book in size and a Study Bible. It was $39.95 but was 50% off the day we were there so I got it for $20.00. I have been reading it every day and my plan is to read it completely through once and then go back to the KJV. I have been told by multiple sources that the NIV is very similar to the Catholic Bible. Of course the Catholics disagree.
