How many cases of West Nile Virus have you had in your area? I was looking at a national chart of states that have the most cases, and it's strange. Some of the states up north have more cases than some of the southern states.
Here in Kentucky in 2013 we had only 1 reported case. Last year nation wide we had over 2,100 cases.

I don't know how many cases have been reported in Florida to date.. but a lot. People with compromised immune systems are at greater risk You know, the mosquito is Florida's state bird . Here's a trick I've found that works,, well, it works as well as chemical based mosquito repellents. A dryer sheet. The kind you put in your laundry. Tuck one or two in your waist band or tuck in the back of your collar or in front ( or in your bra, providing you wear one ) Take one and rub it on all exposed body parts. I was skeptical, but it works. Eliminate all sources of standing water, that's where mosquitoes breed. Keep the grass cut as short as possible and if necessary, use herbal based products to retard mosquitoes in the grass. We don't use chemicals on our yard because the run off goes directly into the creek behind our house and I don't like the risk to our dogs and wildlife. There are many chemical free concoctions listed on the net.

I'm not an alarmist, but I am a realist. West Nile is a serious and sometimes deadly disease.
