I met this guy online he's from England, he's 37, married and a very bright person. He's an atheist but his beliefs are shaky at best. He threatens suicide often if he gets upset. He's looking for the truth but he's looking in the wrong place. I feel sorry for this guy. I have not read everything on his site but nothing seems too bad from what I've seen.
I took the site down, I read more of it and didn't like it.

Lots of people are like that. Let's all hope he gets himself together, or finds an effective way to improve his life. Usually, people don't.

My opinion only but I believe most atheist can see no farther then the end of there nose. They are tantamount to an egomaniac and have ultimate faith in their own knowledge. (smile)

You definitely have no clue what an atheist is like then. I have found them generally have a higher sense or morality than people who believe in religion and would kill at the drop of the hat for their religion.

Most atheist are self assured to the extreme. They believe how can anyone know more then they do. They know it all in a lot of cases. Where is their moral compass?

I don't think one can ever be self assured to the extreme.

Sounds like a typical religionist to me. Just because you berlieve in god, doesn't mean more poop. It most definitely doesn't show any kind of hgh moral sense of belief. Ihave never been impressed by christians or muslims. few if any practice what Jesus taught and they can hate and murder like anyone else. Aheists are just people who have varying sense of vview of the world. They think and often know more about the bible or the koran then those that believe in god and quite frankly, in my opinion, they have learned to think for themselves and because they do, they are much more passionate and stronger in their moral ethics.

Uh huh, some talk the talk but never walk the walk. I try to. I believe something Billy Sunday once preached. He said it's not how high you jump but how straight you walk that matters, I agree with him.
Out of the 12 apostles 11 were murdered for what they believed. They did more then talk the talk, they walked the walk.

Well it seems as though Peter was a little wishy washy
Luke 22:34 "
New Living Translation
But Jesus said, "Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me."
And indeed he did. Was Peter's fear for his own life stronger than his faith in Jesus ? He didn't 'walk the walk' while he was denying Jesus three times before the cock crowed. How did God reconcile this ?

That's lame, even Jesus prayed Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me: nevertherless not my will, but thine, be done. So now you're a atheist, hmmmm.
Yes, Peter was wishy washy. He was crucified like Jesus but he insisted he was not worthy to be crucified like Him and wanted to be crucified upside down and that's what they did.
Your image as a Bible Scholar is shaky at best.
Daniel 3:17 NIV If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty's hand.
Daniel 3:18 But, even if he does not we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.
Tantamount to Job's statement. Job 13:15 KJV Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.
With your statement above you seems to be trying to disprove what you claim you believe in.

sydney, I've never been rude to you. I don't know what's ruffled your feathers, but this is a discussion board and everyone is at liberty to state their opinion. I try to be understanding, but there are times when I put my foot down when others are rude for no reason. sydney; "That's lame, even Jesus prayed Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me: nevertherless not my will, but thine, be done. So now you're a atheist, hmmmm " That was totally uncalled for especially from such a Godly person as yourself. Passing judgement on others does not bode well for your persona. Flinging accusations is not something one should do with no basis in fact. You were talking about 'walking the walk' and I merely pointed out a time in which Peter denied Jesus. LAME ? Why is that lame ? It just showed that not all of Jesus Desciples always 'walked the walk' sydney; "Your image as a Bible Scholar is shaky at best." Please tell me when I've ever portrayed myself as a Bible scholar . In fact, several times I have admitted that I'm not. Never claimed to be. Never will be. That also was uncalled for. We can't all recite Bible passages chapter and verse rote as you do. sydney "With your statement above you seems to be trying to disprove what you claim you believe in." And how would that be ? I sense you are peeved because I said I'm not particularly 'religious' Maybe you are having a bad day, everyone does from time to time. However, I'm in no need of you questioning my belief in God. If you want to pick a fight with AN ( not a ) Atheist, perhaps you should take on tindalus and stop trying to label me as something you have no knowledge of. People respond to warm inclusive conversation, most don't do well with others taking it upon themselves to label them according to their own interpretation. I'm somewhat concerned that you would launch verbal missiles at me for no good reason that I can see. I hope you feel better soon.

Before he went to the cross he prayed father if it be your will let this cup pass from me.
Elijah one of the greatest men in the Bible sat down under a broom bush and prayed that he might die. We all have our weak moments.

So why did you feel compelled to say somethings to me that were not in the scope of our conversation ? I thought we were having a conversation about Jesus' disciples 'walking the walk' and the next thing I know, you've labeled me an Atheist. WTH ?

I apologize I meant nothing personal, I didn't mean to be rude.
Sometimes I don't know how to convey my thoughts and it appears that I'm rude. Sorry.

That's OK. I just wondered if you were having a bad day, since you didn't seem yourself. No hard feelings.
